Hum Tum Aur Ghost Movie Review
Whats your excuse of watching a movie? Mine is simple. I am a movie buff – watch almost every Indian movie that hits the market. (I do make an exception for the likes of Himesh Reshmiya movies and Ram Gopal Verma ki aag though). Not that desperate! I do have a life you see. Anyways coming back to the point – “Hum tum aur ghost”.
Funny at places, the movie doesnt quite live up to the comedy portrayed in its trailers. It starts as a comedy but develops into more serious drama as it goes along. As the title suggests, a successful photographer with a beautiful and successful girlfriend can hear and see ghosts. It takes him a while to realise that and finally when he figures it out, he finds that he could help the ghosts in their unfinished businesses. There are parts of the movie that feel as if they are straight out of M Night Shyamalan’s Sixth Sense.
What follows from interaction with the ghosts is a struggle between logical and the mystical – through the psychologist and his ability. And just as the story is about to get a bit gripping, it takes another turn when his ownlifestory becomes entangled in the whole drama and it turns out that the woman ghost he was helping was in fact his own mother. And as always, towards the end, with some magical mystical assistance all gets well – the girlfriend starts to believe his side of the story and they live happily ever after.
An average story, good performances, average starcast – I would rate this a simple 3 out of 5. Watch it if you want though you wouldn’t really miss much if you won’t. Again if you do watch it you wont be pulling out your hair in frustration either. Its alright for some “time pass”.
