Advantages And Disadvantages of Lcd Tvs
Manufactures are looking for new customers for their LCD TVs. Digital transformation is fading into the past and lcd tv manufactures are striving to coerce customers to purchase new televisions or update to a better television than what they have now.
In order to re-attract new customers, they are cramming more and more technology into their televisions. They have input things such as Internet connectivity to get into additional content including programming in 3D.They have developed LCD TVs backlighting to correct their flaw of less than deep black and power consumption that is lower than previously developed. One company, Sharp, has taken the initiative to redesign displaying images better by adding another color to their screen pixels. They have added the color yellow in addition to the regular green, blue and red.
Many of these improvements do have rewards; they have also acquired some disadvantages in the process.
Local dimming is the technology paired with LED backlights. Local dimming can match the color black produced by the plasma televisions. However, local dimming has a drawback because it can cause a distortion called “blooming”. Blooming is reflected on television screens as bright pictures components “bleed” into surrounding darker ones. This creates something similar to a halo effect during certain scenes. lcd tv sets that are “edge lit” often display worse screen display evenness in pictures. There are certain pictures when you are watching lcd tv where the brightness and strength of the picture can fluctuate.
Manufactures have great promise that their Internet ready LCD TVs will be a great buy for consumers. Viewers can stream video and other internet sites such as Netflix. Of course with the popularity of Facebook and MySpace on the big screen will attract a customer base. However, they still have content that is limited. The only television that does not have this limitation is Sony’s NSX-GT1 series of Google-enabled televisions. Many consumer tests have led us to believe connecting wirelessly is a challenge. The new 3D feature is also a challenge. Viewers must wear expense glasses that are not included with the 3D televisions. In addition, the 3D content available is very limited.
LCD TVs are consistently embracing and renovating their product and trying to achieve the best of the best for the consumer. There are many advantages to their research and creations. However, there are several disadvantages. They will continue to advance technology to make LCD TV the best it can be for the consumer.
